Classmates

Please sign up. This section is fun for all. You can search for a particular classmate and sort by Date of Signup to see new additions or Latest Edit to see revisions to earlier postings.

Due to privacy concerns, we have elected not to provide a link to a file of classmate contact information as we did after our 40th reunion. But one of the cool features of this website is the ability to connect with fellow classmates—assuming the necessary information is posted and kept up-to-date.

How to be found. To opt in to be found by classmates, you need to post or update a profile in the Classmates section, including name, current city, state, and email. It isn't necessary to answer any other question, like street address, occupation, marital status, hobbies, or children or to include comments—though your fellow classmates will be interested in this information. Your email address will be "blinded," and classmates can use the Send a Message link within each profile without learning your email address. They can also use the Where Are They Now feature to see a geographic distribution of class members.

If you've provided a profile in the past, sign in to your profile to see if we have an up-to-date email address and physical location for you. There is a username and password recovery feature if you've forgotten your log in information.

How to find classmates. Using the Send a Message feature is the best way to find Class of 1967 members. For those classmates who haven't posted a profile, you may use the Contact Us form to request that we pass along your inquiry. However, you will not receive a response if the email address we have is outdated.

Even if you do not choose to post a profile on the website, the database that class reunion planners maintain must have a current email address in order to inform you of possible future events. If you change your email address, use the Contact Us link to let us know.

Comment: So sorry we won't be able to be with you all for the reunion. Been a WV resident since 1976; husband, Sam Conly, has been a forester with MeadWestvaco since we left PA. Two great kids: Amy in Boston and Drew in Lake Tahoe. Split my years here at The Greenbrier (hotel) and as Executive Director of Carnegie Hall, a regional arts and ed center. Now president of the Carnegie Hall Foundation, trying to raise an endowment of $10MM. Second term on Lewisburg City Council. Small town living (we're one of the National Trust's Dozen Distinctive Destinations and one the the Best Small Art Towns in America) with amazing options. Rarely get back for a cheesesteak or hoagie; like all of us, probably, can't believe it's 40 years since we left the hallowed halls of NPHS!
Hobbies: Hiking, gardening, reading, travel, the arts.
What are your plans for retirement?: Hoping to build the great small house so we can lock the door and travel.

Comment: I am so thankful to all who have worked to bring us togehter again- virtually or in flesh and blood reality.
For the last 30+ years I have been living in the Washington D.C. area. In 1972 I  became immersed in the Deaf Community and it has brought me to many adventures and in touch with a diversity of people. Once I traveled to Sri Lanka to interpret a World Health Organization working group and once to Finland and Russia. Then, too, we have had  young deaf college students from Indonesia and Congo living in our red brick rambler.  And there are the occassional events and services at the Washington National Cathedral where I witness history unfolding. The rest of the time I have worked in not -for -profit organizations in public relations, reporting, legalservices and grant projects management.
This year I decided to try and tie it all together and have just finished my first year of academic boot camp in an MSW progam back in our home region at the U. of Penn. It has been strange to listen to the news and read the paper with stories of places and names that are at the same time known and unknown. My practice placement was in the women's jail on State Road at the Cottman Ave exit... and I must say that a little time within the confines of jail goes a long way on the trauma scale no matter what your role or function.  And to add a bit of the absurd to the back to school experience-one of my classmates is a recent grad of Strathaven and another knows the Kyj bakery !!
I found our Wallingford Elementary photos, check 'em out.  As Anne Murray sings" Life changed the face but it couldn't touch the smile and I feel good again."  Looking so forward to seeing you all and sharing "that sweet secret reason we were born a human being instead of a chair" A Thousand Clowns by Herb Gardner. Cheers
.
Hobbies: Bike riding, talking to strangers, laughing, gardening, sleuthing through the history of women
What are your plans for retirement?: I have no idea...I'm a student at 57 in social work...what would retirement be? I was a 45 year old bride....who knows what will unfold.

Comment:

I am sorry to miss everyone at the 50th reunion. I am in Tucson with my daughter helping her out after the birth of our latest grandchild. As I look at my profile from the 40th reunion I realize how much our lives have changed in the last decade. I am now semi-retired and Fred is fully retired (but working fulltime as a volunteer for good causes). Our children and grandchildren live all over the world. Our oldest, Catie, is in Boston with her husband Dave and three children, Gus, Orly and Maggie Jo. Eric and his wife Tomoko live in Tokyo with their sons Caden and Noah. Laura and Lenny are in Tucson with two girls, Gavi and Luria. Fred and I spend a lot of time traveling!

Full retirement will probably happen in a couple of years. I have a good deal with my company. I work on the projects that interest me and they assign someone to do all the administrative “stuff” that I don’t. As long as they are willing to keep up that arrangement I am enjoying my work. However, I also want to spend lots of time with my growing family so I expect to reach a tipping point where working won’t be all that interesting if it interferes with visiting grandchildren.

We heard from so many people about how the closing of the Towne House was the end of an era for Media. It was also very difficult for the family. One of Fred’s and my very first dates was lunch at the Towne House and of course over the more than 50 years Fred and I have been together many, many family memories were made at the Towne House. It was very hard but also time for the family to let go.

I know everyone will have a great time at the reunion. Hopefully I will catch up at the next one.

Hobbies: Singing in the choir, reading and drinking wine with my soprano pals!
What are your plans for retirement?: I am sliding (gracefully) into retirement by working part time on projects I find interesting but expect that the slide will end when my 70th birthday rolls around.

My husband and I retired in 2013 and moved to the Charlotte, NC area.  We live right on Lake Wylie and we are taking full advantage of all that the Lake offers, including our two nearby grandkids.  We are also traveling - last year we spent a month in China.  This year's travels - Jamaica, Seattle and Aruba.

Comment: OMG, this is so weird! How do you replay 40 years? OMG has it been 40 years? That's a wake-up call. After graduating from NPHS I tried college at Brandywine. I decided that I didn't like the homework there any better so I backpacked through Europe on $20.00 a day and slept on wonderful Europeon trains through Switzerland, Germany, Spain, etc. Came back, worked for my Dad for quite awhile (he had the Dodge Dealerships who furnished the cars for one of the homecoming games), married a hippy but that was short lived. I really missed the a/c and white zinfindel! After that I went off and joined the Army, stationed at West Point (Ugh!)as a Dental Hygienist! Stayed in Dentistry for a long time, took off to Florida, worked in another family business, met my 2nd husband and was married for 23 years. Then I was fortunate enough to be a stay at home Mom. The best job of my life. I had two children, one son and then a daughter. You know the rest, PTO, scouts, football, soccer, ballet, gymnastics all of it. Loved every moment. We were transferred to Augusta and that is where I've been ever since. Went back to school when I was 52, transferred my credits from 30 years prior, majored in education. One problem, although I made the Deans List, still couldn't get out of remedial algebra. Mr. Smith would be so proud! My son died, suicide, 37 months ago and that is now my mission, to help with mental illness. My daughter, after changing her major 3x while at Augusta State, teaches music privately, works in childcare and has just taken her exam for the police academy (I wish that I had told her that I hated veternarians!) All in all, this life has been good. I decided to start giving something back and am working for the Salvation Army and their thrift stores. Don't know if I'll be able to make it in May, but am certainly enjoying this site.
Grandchildren: none
Hobbies: I enjoy water sports, boating, reading, flea markets, etc.
What are your plans for retirement?: I am planning on finding a very rich old man with one foot in the grave. Other than that I just hope that my ex husband keeps working so that I can get 1/2 of his social security. :)
