Classmates

Please sign up. This section is fun for all. You can search for a particular classmate and sort by Date of Signup to see new additions or Latest Edit to see revisions to earlier postings.

Due to privacy concerns, we have elected not to provide a link to a file of classmate contact information as we did after our 40th reunion. But one of the cool features of this website is the ability to connect with fellow classmates—assuming the necessary information is posted and kept up-to-date.

How to be found. To opt in to be found by classmates, you need to post or update a profile in the Classmates section, including name, current city, state, and email. It isn't necessary to answer any other question, like street address, occupation, marital status, hobbies, or children or to include comments—though your fellow classmates will be interested in this information. Your email address will be "blinded," and classmates can use the Send a Message link within each profile without learning your email address. They can also use the Where Are They Now feature to see a geographic distribution of class members.

If you've provided a profile in the past, sign in to your profile to see if we have an up-to-date email address and physical location for you. There is a username and password recovery feature if you've forgotten your log in information.

How to find classmates. Using the Send a Message feature is the best way to find Class of 1967 members. For those classmates who haven't posted a profile, you may use the Contact Us form to request that we pass along your inquiry. However, you will not receive a response if the email address we have is outdated.

Even if you do not choose to post a profile on the website, the database that class reunion planners maintain must have a current email address in order to inform you of possible future events. If you change your email address, use the Contact Us link to let us know.

Comment: Thanks to the reunion committee for organizing what I know will be a really fun weekend!

I graduated from Mary Washington College with a degree in history.  I met my husband Jim, a "UVa man" and math whiz, at a Valentine's Day dance our sophomore year and we got married shortly before our graduation. (All the better to move in together right away!)  We have now been married 36 years.  We lived in Charlottesville, VA for 5 years while he figured out what he wanted to be--an actuary.  Since then we have moved a lot, met a lot of great people, and traveled to many interesting places.  We have lived in Memphis, Arlington VA, San Antonio, New York City (he worked in the World Trade Center), San Antonio again (GO SPURS!!), Lynchburg VA, and now we find ourselves in Carmel, Indiana (a suburb of Indianapolis, home of the WORLD CHAMPION COLTS!!).  Jim has worked for a number of insurance companies, and is now doing actuarial consulting.  I earned additional degrees in computer science, accounting, and an MBA while living in San Antonio--the perks of working for a university.  I've had several jobs in private industry, a university, and at a technical college.  I am now sort of  "coasting" as an instructor of computer applications programs for a world-wide computer training company.  It's close to home and fun most of the time, while also a mental challenge to learn new applications as frequently and as fast as we have to.  I find it interesting to keep up with coworkers about half my age!  If anyone had told me in 1967 that I would spend over 27 years of my life working with computers, and loving it, I would have told them they needed their head examined!!!  It's funny where life takes us.

I have enjoyed reading what everyone else has posted and am awed and humbled reading about so many incredibly productive, diverse lives.  This class has really "done it all."  I always thought our Class of '67 was special--it's even more obvious now.  I really look forward to seeing everyone at the reunion.
Hobbies: Reading, running (I now have a "streak" of 21 years never missing a day), reading, skiing, reading, travel, reading, computers, reading, tennis . . . .
(Is anyone else out there a mystery freak?)
What are your plans for retirement?: Not any in the near future. I enjoy what I am doing and hope to continue with that or something else productive until I can't put one foot in front of another any more!

Comment: Can it be 50 years? After graduation from NP, I finished Wake Forest University and then onto UVA for my doctorate. We spent 25 yrs in Richmond, where Maggie finished her doctorate, we raised 2 kids, made lifelong friends, and had a great time. I built a thriving clinical practice. Even had a call-in radio show for several years. UGA came calling for Maggie and we have now been in Athens, GA, for 22 yrs. She retired from UGA 5 years ago. I'm lucky to have been able to work along side Maggie for 4 years in our clinical practice, before I retired last August. She's still going strong, and her health is improving with a slower pace.  Looking forward to reconnecting with "ya'll" (that's my adopted Georgia coming out in me).
Grandchildren: 5, 3 girls, 2 boys. \
Hobbies: Church work, sports, and writing fill my passions. I finished 46 yrs of organized baseball. I jog 10-12 mi/wk and have become a gym rat. I have 2 books and a 3rd in the pipeline. We travel most holidays and have a condo at the beach each summer. Maggie retired from UGA 5 yrs ago and picked up 3 days/wk in my clinical practice. Slower pace suits her health. We spend a lot of time doting on grandchildren.
What are your plans for retirement?: Livin' the dream. I retired from clinical practice last August, after Morgan James Publishers released my book. Community & church parenting classes/seminars fill my days. Book tours, national conferences, and a radio show are in the making. With retirement, I haven\'t shaved, set my alarm, or worn a watch :)

Occupation: Retired
Comment: I had a good time in school and look forward to reuniting with everyone. Where did the time go? I've been blessed with a loving husband for almost 40 years and two wonderful sons. Randy is 37 and Kyle is 35. Both boys are married with no children. Life has been pretty good to me. Only thing missing from my life is a grandchild or two. I wish everyone safe travels to the reunion. God bless you all.
Grandchildren: Not yet but hopeful
Hobbies: Now that we both have retired, we travel quite a bit. We have been to almost every state. I've been making porcelain dolls for 15 years. I have a doll collection that has taken over the house. I also like to sew and at the present time, quilting. I have a number of friends and now have the time to really enjoy their friendship as well.
What are your plans for retirement?: I am living it now. Travel and building our dream home on the only hill in Florida. We've lived here in Fl. for 25 years and Rudy has no intentions of leaving. I come back to Pa.(home) many times a year. I miss the climate changes we don't have here in Florida.

Comment: After graduation I went to electronics school for a while. That wasn’t what I was looking for so I took a job with General Electric Co. Then I was hired by P.E.Co. I worked in Delaware County area for 8 or 10 years. In 1972 I married a Ridley Park girl. She is my current wife. This February will be 35 yrs. I can’t figure out where the time went? We lived in Stanton Delaware for a few years. Then I took a job in nuclear power at Peach Bottom (still w/P.E.Co). We moved to Quarryville, Pa. We had 2 children, boy and girl in that order. In 1990 after 23 yrs. with P.E.Co., I took a job with Bechtel Const. at Savannah River Plant in South Carolina. That is where I currently work. We lived in N. Augusta, SC. for about 16 yrs. In July 2005 we moved to Charleston, SC. (Johns Island) in preparation for retirement. I currently keep an apartment in Aiken, SC. I leave Aiken on Thursday evening after work and go home to Charleston. Sunday evening I go back to Aiken. It isn’t much fun but it’s the price I chose to live on the coast. This town is just great! I can’t say enough about it, I love it! Besides that, my daughter lives here with my wonderful grandson. This turned into a life changing event for several reasons. Four months after we moved in, he (Cooper) was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma (Cancer) during his 6 month wellness check. It has been a horrific 16 months. Once again Gods Grace has prevailed. He just finished his finial treatments and checks. There is currently no evidenance of disease, as of 1/26/07. If you are interested check out www.caringbridge.org and click on "Visit a Caringbridge Site" type in "coopercates", it is his story. I have a great witness story about this whole event I love to share. So for now life is GREAT! I hope to take early retirement this June. I will find other work My son Bruce is currently a program director at Green Mountain Collage in Vermont. He is married, but no children so far. I guess that is the long and short of it. I’m not sure if I will make the reunion or not. We have a close family friends wedding that weekend. I’m having a strong urge to wiggle out of it. We’ll see. If anyone is in is in the Charleston area I would love to hear from you. Drop me a line besaxman@comcast.net .

Hobbies: Boating on the ICW (Intra Coastal Waterway). We have done a lot of cruising from Wilmington, NC. thru Florida and out to Bimini.
What are your plans for retirement?: I hope to retire this June. More likely change jobs. Its time to give back.

Update, my last day of work for Bechtel is June 7 2007
